Mike Melanson

Senior Political Strategist


Mike Melanson has managed or advised candidate and ballot measure campaigns at every level in Colorado for 25 years, including managing the campaigns of Senator Mark Udall and Governor John Hickenlooper.

More recently, Mike was the general consultant for Denver Mayor Michael Hancock’s re-election campaign; advised For the Love of Colorado, a statewide coalition supporting education of and funding for Colorado Water Plan; developed and consulted on Colorado Proposition DD, which legalized online sports betting, generating over $10 million annually for Colorado water conservation and protection projects; ran the Colorado River District’s Question 7A campaign raising $5 million annually for West Slope water projects; and works with the University of Colorado on college affordability and state fiscal matters.

Mike is a licensed attorney and was a professional ski instructor at Angel Fire Resort, New Mexico and Winter Park Resort, Colorado, and Director of News and Information Services at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Mike is married with two children and lives in Golden, CO, and he volunteers as a coach with the Lakewood High School Mountain Bike Team.
