The House must extend the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress

Today, Issue One and 24 other organizations and individuals from across the political spectrum called on U.S. House leadership to extend the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress in a joint letter.

The letter states: “We are a diverse mix of organizations and individuals with decades of experience in congressional operations, procedure, technology, and public policy. We strongly urge you to extend the Select Committee’s mandate for one additional year, so that it may continue its important work to drive the conversation on modernizing and improving our first branch of government.”

Issue One Executive Director Meredith McGehee said, “It is a no-brainer to continue the Select Committee for at least another year. The 12 Republican and Democratic members have been laying important groundwork to ensure the House can function efficiently and effectively in the 21st century.”
