Secretaries Tom Ridge, Dan Glickman and Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey join Issue One’s Board of Directors

Issue One is pleased to welcome three prominent new members to its Board of Directors: Sec. Tom Ridge, Sec. Dan Glickman and Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey.

“Secretary Tom Ridge, Secretary Dan Glickman and Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey are exactly the kind of principled leaders we need more of in our government today and we could not be happier that they have joined our Board of Directors,” said Issue One Executive Director Nick Penniman. “We are at a turning point where we need systemic reforms to our political system that will return government to the American people and these three new voices will help pave the way for that change.”

Tom Ridge has served in public office for decades, most-recently as the first Secretary of the Homeland Security Department (DHS), Pennsylvania’s 43rd governor and a six-term congressman representing the state’s 21st district. During his tenure at DHS, Ridge worked across a network of 22 agencies and more than 180,000 employees to upgrade and reimagine the national security apparatus of the United States following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. He completed his law degree at Pennsylvania University’s Dickinson School of Law, interrupting his studies during the draft to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He is the founder and chairman of Ridge Global.

Dan Glickman served nine terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Kansas’ 4th district and was the Secretary of Agriculture for six years under President Clinton from 1995 to 2001. Following his government service, Secretary Glickman was director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and chaired the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). He is currently executive director of the Aspen Institute Congressional Program, a nonpartisan educational program for members of Congress and also a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center.  

Secretaries Ridge and Glickman are also members of Issue One’s ReFormers Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of more than 175 former elected governors, members of Congress and cabinet officials who work on government ethics and political reform issues.

Kerry Healey was the 70th Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts under the governorship of Mitt Romney. She focused on issues of public safety, criminal-justice reform and closing the multi-billion dollar budget shortfall in the commonwealth. She was elected to the Massachusetts Republican State Committee (MRSC) in 1998 and served until 2001 when she became chairwoman, making her only the second woman to ever head the Massachusetts GOP. She also served in varying positions and capacities for the George W. Bush administration before joining Babson College in 2013 as the first woman president of the institution.
