Rep. Todd Platts (R-PA) joins the ReFormers Caucus
Issue One welcomes former Republican Representative Todd Platts to the ReFormers Caucus. He joins more than 160 former members of Congress and governors fighting to return our government to the people.
Platts served Pennsylvania’s 19th District for 12 years, from 2001 to 2013, during which time he refused to accept contributions from any special interests or political action committees.
While in Congress, Rep. Platts served on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the Committee on Armed Services. He also chaired both the Committee on Government Organization and the Committee on Efficiency and Financial Management.
Rep. Platts supported reform bills to require disclosure of lobbyist bundled donations, the Shays-Meehan ban on soft-money contributions and the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation. In 2007 and again in 2010, along with a bipartisan group of fellow Representatives, Rep. Platts cosponsored the Presidential Funding Act, a bill that would make improvements to the presidential public financing system.
“I’m going to focus on doing my job and doing what’s best for the country and for my constituents,” Rep. Platts told PennLive when interviewed in his district office in 2011.
Rep. Platts is currently serving a ten-year term as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas in York County, Pennsylvania.
Issue One is thrilled to welcome Rep. Platts aboard. His level-headedness, commitment to conscience and ability to work across the aisle will be important assets to the work of our bipartisan coalition.
