Constitutional Defense

Working to uphold the rule of law, protect our institutions, and keep power where it belongs — in a government of, by, and for the people.

Our system of checks and balances depends on Congress exercising its full authority under Article I of the Constitution. Yet today, critical oversight mechanisms are being undermined or ignored altogether and the United States is facing an escalating constitutional crisis rooted not only in executive overreach, but in growing public disillusionment with democratic institutions.

When any one branch of government operates without meaningful accountability from its coequal branches, Americans are deprived of the individual liberties envisioned in the Constitution.

In response, Issue One launched a comprehensive constitutional defense initiative to defend against the consolidation of power, working with our bipartisan ReFormers Caucus, national security leaders, veterans, and community voices across the country to generate pressure, reshape the public narrative, and drive institutional accountability.

Our efforts include:

  • Mobilizing respected bipartisan voices — including former members of Congress, military officials, and legal experts — to denounce abuse of power and call for renewed congressional oversight through hearings, public declarations, and bipartisan legislation.
  • Driving grassroots advocacy via www.CheckTheExec.org, a digital campaign hub that educates the public, spotlights abuses of power, and provides tools for contacting lawmakers and demanding they uphold their constitutional duty.
  • Shaping the media narrative through op-eds, expert commentary, and coordinated messaging that highlights the constitutional stakes of executive overreach.
  • Building pressure on elected officials in key congressional districts through constituent actions, partnerships with veterans, and local media coverage aimed at amplifying public demand for action.

America’s founding principles must not be abandoned when they are most under threat. Through strategic advocacy and civic engagement, Issue One is helping to reestablish the accountability mechanisms that protect the republic.
