In reaction to last week’s elections, Issue One’s bipartisan National Council on Election Integrity issued the following statement applauding our nation’s election officials for administering another safe and secure election, while calling on Congress to strengthen our nation’s critical election infrastructure ahead of next year:

“Election officials across the country worked for months to ensure that all eligible voters were able to securely cast their ballots and have those ballots counted efficiently and accurately. The smooth administration of the 2023 elections is a testament to the determination and innovation of election officials across the country who have learned to do more despite increasing demands and fewer resources. Americans should have confidence in our elections and shared democracy knowing these public servants are at the helm.

“As we enter a presidential election year, the National Council on Election Integrity calls on Congress to act now to provide federal funding to buttress critical local and state election infrastructure. We have heard from countless election officials that American elections remain chronically underfunded. Elections cost money; local, state, and the federal government all have a responsibility to ensure officials have the resources they need to continue administering free and fair elections.”
