On the heels of massive personnel cuts and the halting of election security programs at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) issued a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem last Friday asking for the continuity of vital functions within CISA. In support of the letter, Issue One Election Protection Campaign Manager Angelina Clapp issued the following statement:
“The relationship between CISA and local election officials is important to the perpetual safety and security of our elections. The continuity of services such as briefings for local election officials, cyber and physical security assessments, and on-the-ground incident response reporting can and should be attributed to the success and safety of elections from year to year. Maintaining these services would allow local election officials to conduct their jobs with the support that our elections, and those who run them, deserve.”
