“Today’s convictions are another victory for the rule of law,” Issue One says following Proud Boys verdict

Earlier today, leaders of the Proud Boys group were found guilty on charges of seditious conspiracy relating to the attack on the U.S. Capitol and the attempt to undermine the results of the 2020 election. In response to the verdict, Issue One released the following statement from Founder and CEO Nick Penniman:

“Coordinated attempts to override the will of the people and undermine our constitutional order will not be tolerated. Today’s convictions are another victory for the rule of law, and an unmistakable message that violence has no place in our politics. Every person involved in the conspiracy to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election, regardless of who they are, must be held accountable.

“Together we will continue to protect our free and fair elections, and the peaceful transfer of power, from anti-democratic actors who don’t believe in America’s core values.”
