Trump is “converting the Big Lie into campaign cash,” warns Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman

Issue One released the following statement in the wake of newly filed campaign finance reports showing a massive fundraising haul by former President Donald Trump’s political committees, which reportedly raised $51 million between July 1 and December 31, and ended 2021 with $122 million in the bank.

“The Trump machine is effectively converting the Big Lie into campaign cash,” said Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman. “For years, we’ve known that outrage can fuel fundraising. Sadly, it now appears that relentless attacks on the integrity of our democracy also cause donors to open their wallets. When Donald Trump benefits financially from eroding people’s faith in our free and fair elections, the American people lose.”
