Jamie Neikrie

Legislative Manager, Technology Reform

Jamie Neikrie is the legislative manager for Technology Reform at Issue One. In this role, Jamie leads efforts to ensure that technology enhances, rather than undermines, American democracy. His work has focused on protecting Americans’ private information, making tech platforms more transparent, enacting responsible safeguards for minors, and advancing social media design changes to fortify democratic integrity.

In this role, Jamie helped build the Council for Responsible Social Media and articulate its legislative priorities. He has since advanced these goals on Capitol Hill, helping secure additional bipartisan support for the Platform Accountability and Transparency Act, advance the Kids Online Safety Act through the Senate by a vote of 91-3, and provide advocacy support to prevent doxxing and harassment of election officials online. Jamie also led the development of Big Tech’s Broken Promises, an exhaustive catalog of empty public proclamations and policy changes announced by the largest technology companies.

His previous work for Issue One included launching the Reimagining American Democracy speaker series and writing a report on congressional staff pay, which sparked the creation of a House of Representative minimum pay floor. Prior to joining Issue One in 2021, Jamie covered health policy for a national hospital system and worked in the Massachusetts State House, where he helped organize the state’s first Citizen Initiative Review and authored legislation to create a state legislative research agency (H.2661).
