Jamie Neikrie

Legislative Director

Jamie Neikrie is the Legislative Director for Issue One. In this role, he leads all federal legislative and lobbying efforts for the organization. His work focuses on strengthening American elections, protecting the American information ecosystem from manipulation and foreign interference, and defending the checks & balances that uphold our constitutional democracy.

Prior to this role, Jamie served as the Legislative Manager for the Democracy and Technology Reform, where he led efforts to ensure that technology enhances, rather than undermines, American democracy. He helped build the Council for Responsible Social Media, articulate its legislative priorities, and advance these goals on Capitol Hill. Some of Jamie’s key accomplishments include securing additional bipartisan support for the Platform Accountability and Transparency Act, advancing the Kids Online Safety Act through the Senate by a vote of 91-3, and providing advocacy support to prevent doxxing and harassment of election officials online. Jamie also led the development of Big Tech’s Broken Promises, an exhaustive catalog of empty public proclamations and policy changes announced by the largest technology companies.

Prior to joining Issue One in 2021, Jamie covered health policy for a national hospital system and worked in the Massachusetts State House, where he helped organize the state’s first Citizen Initiative Review and authored legislation to create a state legislative research agency (H.2661).
