Communications Intern


Liv joined Issue One as a Communications Intern in January of 2025. Liv (she/her) is a sophomore at American University, majoring in International Studies with a focus on human rights and conflict resolution in the MENA region. She is deeply interested in how technology impacts the world in terms of human rights, warfare, social media, and policy. She writes in the Tech Division for AU’s undergrad think tank the Pericles Institute, recently publishing an op-ed on lethal autonomous weapons systems. Before joining the Issue One team, Liv interned for TechGirls, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, where she gained crucial marketing and storytelling experience. Prior to that, she traveled to Dubai, UAE and interned for the Majlis Al Amal by Al Jalila Foundation, a women’s cancer support center.

Liv has an appreciation for travel and language learning, and is currently learning Arabic after becoming proficient in Spanish over the course of seven years. In her free time, Liv enjoys drawing, weightlifting, and being a model and makeup artist for her school’s fashion magazine.
