Patrick Young
People and Culture Director
Patrick Young is an employee-centered leader in human resources at Issue One, focused on building a positive and inclusive workplace culture. With over a decade of experience in nonprofit HR, Patrick has a strong track record of designing strategic initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support organizational growth. At Issue One, he leads efforts to streamline HR processes, modernize operations, and foster an environment where all team members feel valued and engaged.
Before joining Issue One in 2021, Patrick served as the HR and volunteer director at DOORWAYS, a St. Louis, Missouri-based nonprofit providing housing and supportive services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. There, he developed data-driven HR policies, revamped employee benefits, and championed initiatives to create a family-friendly and inclusive culture.
In addition to his HR roles, Patrick served as an adjunct professor at Saint Louis University, teaching courses on nonprofit leadership and fundraising and sharing his expertise with the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
Patrick holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration and a bachelor’s degree in political Science and communication from Mississippi State University. Patrick is SHRM-CP certified and a member of several HR cohorts, including a founding member of the Safe Space HR Cohort.
Outside of work, Patrick enjoys traveling, baking sweet treats, watching college sports, and running as the sun rises. He shares his home with two cats, Gayle and Mr. Business, and he’s always ready to discuss the latest pop culture news or Kelly Clarkson cover.
