Sarah Medeiros

Digital Organizing Manager, Citizen Engagement

Sarah R. Medeiros is a strategic digital communications professional who thrives on empowering the public with the information and tools they need to take action in their own communities. With a career focused on nonprofit communications and marketing, Sarah has nearly eight years of experience in leading multi-channel communications campaigns on both a national and state level.

Her most significant work was done at the American Library Association, Natural Resources Defense Council, People For the American Way, and the National Women’s Law Center. Within those positions, Sarah developed a strong track record of creative message and branding development, strengthening and broadening audience engagement, and supporting both state and federal policy campaigns through strategic storytelling and digital mobilization.

Across her roles, she has built expertise in cross-platform work to support advocacy goals and strengthen mission-driven communications programs, as well as supporting community engagement and both grassroots and grasstops participation. A couple of her favorite projects include working with artists on an “art the vote” electoral campaign and raising awareness about environmental health issues through social media videos and cross-channel outreach.

Before returning to school to earn her Masters in International Media at American University, Sarah spent three years working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys volunteering as a Virginia Election officer and helping to support cat rescues through her consultant work on a recent documentary, 25 Cats from Qatar. A child of two Foreign Service officers, she grew up overseas and loves to travel, with two continents out of seven left to visit.
