Alix Fraser

Alix Fraser oversees all of Issue One’s advocacy programs. Previously, Alix led one of Issue One’s major strategic objectives with the goal of improving the design, accountability, and oversight of technology platforms to create an information ecosystem that nurtures, rather than undermines, American democracy. He also managed the Council for Responsible Social Media – a crosspartisan council of political, civic, public health, business, and national security leaders working to address the threats that social media platforms pose to American society.

Prior to coming to Issue One, Alix led advocacy and electoral campaigns at the state and local levels in California.

Alix spent nearly a decade in foreign policy, where he worked to develop and execute U.S. foreign policy at the State Department, primarily focusing on improving democratic institutions and human rights conditions internationally. Alix served in a number of posts and capacities, including as a speech writer and special assistant to the Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights and tours of duty as a political officer in the U.S. Embassies in El Salvador and Honduras.

Alix earned his bachelor’s degree in international development from UC Berkeley and his master’s in international affairs from The George Washington University. He enjoys traveling, writing, hiking, and spending time with his wife and daughters.
