Andrew Ansel
Vice President, Philanthropy
Andrew Ansel is Vice President of Philanthropy at Issue One, where he leads the organization’s philanthropic strategy and donor partnerships to advance its mission of strengthening democracy and improving the political system.
Andrew brings deep experience building and leading fundraising programs for national advocacy organizations working at the intersection of democracy, civil rights, and public policy. His work has focused on cultivating major donor and foundation partnerships, aligning philanthropic strategy with organizational priorities, and strengthening the systems needed to support long-term growth — experience he has also brought to executive teams as a strategic fundraising consultant.
He has contributed to periods of significant organizational expansion at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and at Alliance for Justice. He is known for partnering closely with executive leadership and boards to translate strategy into sustainable fundraising programs, with experience spanning both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.
He serves on the Board of Directors of FreeState Justice, a legal services and policy advocacy organization for LGBTQ Marylanders, where he chairs the Development Committee.
Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, reading, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. A native Midwesterner, Andrew lives in Washington, DC.
