Our March 22 event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman accounted for 45% of our total press hits last month. Highlights include a Jackson Hole News & Guide post-event analysis and Associated Press pickup of a story Penniman was interviewed for in advance of the bipartisan conversation. Additional coverage included Washington ExaminerOpenSecretsWyoming Public MediaJackson Hole Community Radio, and WyoFile. Afterward, the Jackson Hole News & Guide also opined in an editorial about how the event demonstrated the power of civil cross-partisan debate in politics.

With the war in Ukraine continuing, ReFormers Caucus Co-chairs former Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN) and Amb. Tim Roemer (D-IN) penned an op-ed published by the Chicago Tribune about the larger threats facing democracy: “Putin is betting that America no longer has the resolve to defend democracy abroad or stem its hemorrhaging at home. At this pivotal moment in history, it is vital that we prove him and other authoritarians wrong.”

Similarly, National Council on Election Integrity member retired Admiral Mike Rogers appeared on Andrea Mitchell’s MSNBC weekday program twice to discuss Putin’s war on the Ukrainian people. Andrea identified Adm. Rogers as a spokesperson for the National Council on Election Integrity.

Research Director Michael Beckel spoke with Reuters and The Guardian about former President Trump’s Save America PAC fundraising, saying, “It’s atypical for someone to amass such a large political war chest in their leadership PAC and not be spending very much directly on elections.” Beckel also weighed in with the Casper Star Tribune about fundraising in the Liz Cheney-Harriet Hageman primary fight.

CEO Nick Penniman appeared on SiriusXM to discuss the war in Ukraine and threats to democracy with host Laura Coates, while Michael also joined the program to talk about our recent “Extreme Gerrymanders” report.

Additional highlights include an in-depth piece from TIME about unionization efforts on the Hill which cited our congressional staff pay report, and a pre-State of the Union story from The Fulcrum which featured a quote from Nick. Issue One’s recent new hires — Dokhi Fassihian, Amber McReynolds, and Heather Balas — were also mentioned by Politico’s Playbook PM and Influence newsletters.
