Issue One remembers the life of former Congressman Bill Zeliff (R-NH), an active member of Issue One’s ReFormers Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of more than 200 former members of Congress, governors, and Cabinet secretaries united to fix America’s broken political system.
Congressman Zeliff passed away on October 18, 2021. He was 85 years old.
A person compelled by his deep love for the state of New Hampshire, and revered by his fellow residents and colleagues, Congressman Zeliff spent a lifetime giving back to the community of the Granite State.
Before serving in Congress, Congressman Zeliff obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1959. Shortly before his graduation, Congressman Zeliff enrolled in the Connecticut National Guard, where he honorably served until 1964. Congressman Zeliff would continue his military service as a member of the United States Army Reserve.
Congressman Zeliff’s first endeavor in politics came when he was named as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1988, followed by a successful run to represent New Hampshire’s First Congressional District in 1991. Congressman Zeliff served his constituents in this capacity until 1997.
During his time in office, Congressman Zeliff was chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Affairs and Criminal Justice within the House Government Reform Committee, in addition to serving on the House Transportation Committee and the Small Business Committee.
Issue One thanks Congressman Zeliff for his service to Congress, to the country, and to the ReFormers Caucus.
