Issue One is pleased to announce that North Carolina State Senator Deanna Ballard has joined our Board of Directors, furthering Issue One’s crosspartisan mission to strengthen U.S. democracy.
Since 2016, Deanna Ballard has represented the 45th District, composed of Alleghany, Ashe, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes. She co-chairs the Education/Higher Education Policy and Appropriations Committee while serving on various other committees such as the Healthcare, Finance, and Economic Development and Engagement Committee.
“Senator Ballard and her distinguished government career is a notable addition to our board,” said Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman. “Her expertise and qualifications will support our critical effort to renew U.S. democracy and defend it against those who seek to undermine our rule of law.”
Senator Ballard previously served as a Commissioned Officer in the George W. Bush White House, working with both the President and Mrs. Laura Bush on strategic operations and initiatives. She also worked closely in advising and managing projects for Franklin Graham at the North Carolina-based Samaritan’s Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
