Former representatives Connie Morella (R-MD) and Tom McMillen (D-MD) joined Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD) and Republican Governor Larry Hogan’s policy director, Adam Dubitsky at the University of Maryland to discuss money-in-politics reform.
The ReFormers Caucus launched this month and is already putting money-in-politics reform at the tops of hearts and minds across the country. The event, held at the University of Maryland, was attended by more than 200 people who heard how money distorts policy outcomes in Washington and statehouses around the country and sows deep distrust in our public institutions. The participants also noted the strong suite of bipartisan solutions to ensure everyone has a voice in their democracy, from increased transparency and disclosure, to improving enforcement of the law, to changing the way we finance campaigns. The event is just more evidence that reform is the rare political issue that unites both Democrats and Republicans—read more about what happened in this article from the Washington Post.
