In the wake of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman issued the following statement:
“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a ground-breaking warrior for women’s rights and ensuring equality in the United States on the basis of sex, both on the Supreme Court and long before she served as a justice on the highest court in the land.
“She was a thoughtful jurist who was able to forge friendships with her colleagues on the court, despite ideological differences.
“We would all do well to build bridges across ideological divides like Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg did, especially as the country works to hold safe and secure elections amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“As the nation mourns the loss of the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court, it would be prudent for the White House and Senate leaders on both sides of the aisle to put country over party and move forward responsibly without fanning the flames of hyper-partisanship.”
