In a new full-page ad published in today’s edition of the Wall Street Journal, Issue One’s bipartisan National Council on Election Integrity urges Republicans and Democrats, both inside and outside of Congress, to “follow the facts” and “not use the upcoming hearings to score political points” as the House Select Committee Investigating the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol prepares to share the findings of their investigation in a series of public hearings scheduled to begin next Thursday, June 9.

“Preventing another January 6th isn’t a partisan issue,” the council states. “We commend the leadership and members of the House Select Committee Investigating the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol for their efforts to conduct a serious, bipartisan, and fact-driven investigation.”

The hearings come nearly 18 months after the world witnessed a violent mob attack the seat of American government in an attempt to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.

Since that deadly day, efforts to erode faith in our elections and democratic institutions have only continued. Candidates who deny the outcome of the last election are now running for elected office, including key election administration positions, and the former president and his allies continue to spread disinformation and undermine the integrity of our free and fair elections.

The council concludes by saying, “The American people deserve nothing less than an objective and truthful account of what happened on and prior to January 6th. We must take concrete action now to ensure that assaults on our country like this never happen again.”
