Issue One is excited to welcome former Representatives Lee Terry (R-NE), Todd Tiahrt (R-KS) and Dan Lungren (R-CA) to the ReFormers Caucus — a group comprised of nearly 180 former members of Congress, governors, ambassadors and cabinet secretaries from both parties assembled on behalf of government ethics and political reform.
Representative Lee Terry served Nebraska’s 2nd District — one of the nation’s rare true swing districts — for 16 years from 1999 to 2015. During his time in Congress, Rep. Terry served on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and chaired the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. He co-sponsored the Conduit Contribution Prevention Act (H.R.1747) to increase civil money and criminal penalties for knowing and willful violations of the prohibition against making or accepting contributions in the name of another. Representative Terry is currently a senior advisor for the international law firm Kelley Drye & Warren, focusing on issues of healthcare, manufacturing, energy, environmental, telecommunications and data privacy and cybersecurity.
Representative Todd Tiahrt served Kansas’ 4th District from 1995 to 2011. He served on the House Appropriations Committee and the Subcommittee on Defense and Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies. Additionally, Rep. Tiahrt founded and chaired the House Economic Competitiveness Caucus. Prior to being an elected official, Rep. Tiahrt worked for The Boeing Company for 14 years and is now the CEO and Founder of Todd Tiahrt, LLC.
Representative Dan Lungren first represented California’s 34th District from 1979 to 1983, followed by the 42nd District from 1983 to 1989. He then spent eight years as the Attorney General of California before returning to the House to represent the 3rd District from 2005 to 2013. Lungren chaired the House Committee on Administration and served on the Judiciary, Homeland Security and Budget committees. Additionally, Rep. Lungren was a member of the Republican Study Committee. He is currently a fellow at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.
We are delighted to welcome the leadership and expertise of Representatives Terry, Tiahrt and Lungren as new members of the Issue One ReFormers Caucus. Their commitment and unique insights will strengthen the effort to support and implement bipartisan solutions to fixing our broken political system.
