In response to the news that former President Donald Trump asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to release dirt on Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, Issue One released the following statement.

“Former President Trump’s inability to follow the most basic laws of our elections shocks the conscience,” said Issue One Founder and CEO Nick Penniman. “U.S. elections should be decided by American voters, not foreign nationals or foreign governments. Foreigners are rightfully barred from influencing American elections, and the former president should stop inviting them to do so, especially an authoritarian regime like Putin’s. Democrats and Republicans alike should be concerned by foreign interference in U.S. elections, and when it comes to Putin, the primary issue they should be concerned with is condemning his violent attempt to overthrow the democratically elected government in Ukraine.”
